Free Dyslexia Tests
Research point to that about one person in fifteen is dyslexic. If dyslexia is not attended to at an early stage, the effects of dyslexia can be devastating on an emotional level, often resulting in feelings of failure and loss of self-confidence.
Take below tests to see if you or your child or an adult have symptoms of dyslexia. Please note that below tests should only be used as an introductory guide.
Child Dyslexia Test
If you answer ‘Yes’ to four or more of these questions, then your child may show dyslexic symptoms, and we recommend that he or she has a full individual assessment by a professional:
• Are there any family members who experienced difficulty learning to read or spell when they were at school?
• Is your child experiencing reluctance to go to school or feelings of failure at school?
• Does your child have difficulties with spelling?
• Does your child miss out words when reading?
• Does your child have difficulty reading aloud?
• Does your child sometimes skip lines when reading?
• Does your child experience difficulty copying from the board?
• Does your child get confused about following instructions, for example when playing a game?
• Is your child unable to count backwards from 100 down to 0?
• Is anyone in your family left-handed.
Adult Dyslexia Test
If you answer ‘Yes’ to five or more of these questions, then you may be dyslexic. Seek professional advise if you want accurate answers to your questions regarding dyslexia.
- When writing checks/cheques, do you frequently find yourself making mistakes?
- When using the telephone, do you tend to get the numbers mixed up when you dial?
- Is your spelling poor?
- Do you mix up dates and times and miss appointments?
- Do you find forms difficult and confusing?
- Do you find it difficult to take messages on the telephone and pass them on correctly?
- Do you mix up bus numbers like 95 and 59?
- Do you find it difficult to say the months of the year forward in a fluent manner?
- Did you find it hard to learn your multiplication tables at school?
- Do you take longer than you should to read a page of a book?
- Do you find difficulty in telling left from right?
- When you have to say a long word, do you sometimes find it difficult to get all the sounds in the right order?
